Laura Harjo Ph.D.

Scholar of Indigenous futures, spatial storytelling, and community-based research

My research examines Indigenous knowledge systems, narrative, and spatial practice through community-engaged work. As a Mvskoke scholar, my work is grounded in commitments to sovereignty, wellbeing, and collective futures.

I work across Indigenous narrative, community-engaged research, and future-making practices. My work focuses on how knowledge is carried through story, sound, place, and relationships, and how those forms continue to shape Indigenous futures.

I direct the Indigenous Futures Research Lab, where collaborative projects take shape across media, cultural knowledge work, and field-based research. Current work includes short film, podcasting, and map-based storytelling.

This site shares selected research, teaching, and ongoing collaborations.
